It’s been almost exactly a year since Harry and Jason started LIR and the time has come for LIR Radio to move forward. We have enjoyed enormous good will from everyone who helped to get us going not least Conor Hughes who has generously supported us in Blackrock from day one. We have gathered a great team of volunteer presenters who all gave their time and never asked for a penny in return. We all did it for the love of radio and our 12 month anniversary is the right date to call time on the project. We have enjoyed many laughs, the odd celeb and a few tears along the way but it’s been a really great year.
As ever these things come down to finance in the end and despite making applications to various boards and groups we didn’t get any funding and have made the most of some donations to get us through the year.
We are glad we did it. We couldn’t have done it without all of our presenters and a special mention goes to our producer Ciaran Hughes who has worked tirelessly and without a grumble. We are calling time on LIR for now and will have our last broadcast on Thursday 19th July.
So from now till then please keep listening and many thanks for the goodwill and support we have enjoyed. We appreciated it.
Best Wishes
Harry and Jason and The LIR Team.
Louth man sets up Lost Property website for all of Ireland
A former web designer from Blackrock in Co. Louth has set up a lost property website for Ireland in just one day. Visitors to www.lostandstolen.ie which was launched on Sunday 24th June can post free classified ads on the website to try to trace missing goods. The website which is setup like a classified ads website but allows users to register an ad for free for 30 days n the category of their choice. Visitors can add in up to 2 images, choose their county, a description and add in a contact email where anyone who wants to make contact can just send them an email.”
“It’s a simple enough concept and I spoke to someone in the car trade recently who said it was a great idea.” Said Jason. “I also took some advice from a Garda who suggested that I add in a serial number facility to each ad so that people could search on that field”. The website is free to use and is aimed at Ireland but if it takes off the plans are to create an app and roll out Worldwide. It’s expected that the site will attract attention from Insurance Companies who’s would have an obvious interest in the same area. The website also has a Facebook and Twitter pages where the latest classified ads will be posted.
Listen in to our outside broadcast special on the cycle lanes!
Broadcast live on the day from Christy McGee Insurance on Crowe street with our guests Senator Mary Moran and Town Councilor Chairperson Marrianne Butler.
Blackrock's Annual raft race takes place this Sunday and will be hosted by Louth Internet Radio's very own Harry Lee. The ammount of entrants into the raft race has been extended due to the huge interest by entrants this year.
There will also be plenty of live music, fun and events as always for all the family as well as a fly over by the coastguard helicopter.
On Friday 15th June we broadcast from ChristyMcGee Insurances in Park Street, Dundalk and we had music, interviews and sport. We are editing the podcast and the fantastic debate between Senator Mary Moran and Clr Marianne Butler on the cycle lanes will appear here shorly.
